About online translation

Who does the translation?

“Online” does not mean “automatic”. If you are looking for a computer-generated translation, you’ve come to the wrong place. By using our online translation service, you are not handing over your text to a machine or a faceless organisation; you will benefit from the same level of quality, the same personal approach and the same team of translators as all our customers. The work will not be done by a robot producing an incomprehensible string of words from its database. Hancock Hutton offers only a team of highly dedicated, specialized, professional translators.

In what languages?

We offer around fifty languages and several hundred language combinations. To select the language pair you want, simply choose the source language, add the text, then select the target language from the drop-down list.

How quickly?

Turnaround times depend on how long your text is. But generally speaking, if you give us a couple of pages, you will get the translation back the next day - and in some cases the same day. At all events, as soon as your order is placed, you receive a confirmation email informing you of the delivery date.

What file format?

We can accept these file formats: Word (.doc), PDF and .txt. Just attach your file when you choose your languages. There is no limit on the number of pages or words. There is however a limit on the file size, which may not exceed 20 Mb. Alternatively, you can copy and paste your text in the box designed for this purpose.

How is the price calculated?

It is based on the number of words to be translated. When you attach your file or paste your text, our fast, ultra-reliable wordcount software counts the number of words to translate and then calculates the cost according to the selected languages.

Is payment secure?

Yes. Our partner is HSBC with its online payment module Elysnet, a fully secure system (SSL standard). And if you still have any doubts, please contact us by phone.

So do I have to pay before I get my translation?

No. In contrast to the vast majority of agencies offering online translations, we consider that payment should be made on delivery, not on order. When you place your order, our Elysnet payment system asks you for your credit card details, but your card will not be debited until you have received the translation. Payment takes effect once the translation is in your possession. No nasty surprises.
